Normal: Normal curves and equal disc spacing allow normal function of the spine and nervous system.

Phase I: Misalignment and malfunction causes soft tissue damage and nerve irritation. Normal spinal motion, curves, and disc spacing are altered. This early phase can exist without the warning of pain or other symptoms.

Phase II: Subluxations, if left untreated, can cause calcium deposits and bone spurs. Bone spurs and abnormal bony growth distort the shape and function of the vertebrae.

Phase III: Malfunctioning joints, if left untreated, can cause joint immobilization, bone fusion, nerve atrophy, and scar tissue.
